THE UK EATS ABOUT 1.5 MILLION TONNES OF FRESH MEAT EVERY YEAR – TWICE AS MUCH AS IT PRODUCES

British production satisfies much of the nation’s demand for fresh meat, and is increasingly a selling point for ready-meals and cooked meats. We export much of the dark meat we produce and import more of the breast meat that British consumers want. As well as making commercial sense, it reduces the potential for food waste.
